RIVERSIDE – Light rain and snow in the mountains were expected tonight, a much calmer variant of the storms that pummeled the county last week.
The National Weather Service forecasts an 80 percent chance of precipitation tonight in Riverside, mainly between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Other county areas expected to see rain include Beaumont, Idyllwild, Temecula and Hemet.
The rain was expected to last through Sunday morning, though there was a possibility of the rains lingering through the evening before moving east.
Weather was expected to be dry until about mid-week, when another low pressure system moves into Southern California, the NWS said.
Snow was also possible tonight in the San Jacinto Mountains above 5,000 feet, though it was not expected to exceed 1 inch, according to an NWS forecast discussion.
