Murrieta, CA – The City of Murrieta will be presenting Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta (LLUMC-Murrieta) with a proclamation at the upcoming City Council meeting taking place on April 19, 2016 at 6 p.m. at Murrieta City Hall. The proclamation will honor LLUMC-Murrieta’s commitment to the community, as well the innovations in medical technology that has set Loma Linda University Medical Center apart from other hospitals and medical centers.
LLUMC-Murrieta began serving the southwest Riverside County in early-2011, during an extremely difficult period. At the time, the region had a population of a half-million people with one of the lowest hospital beds per capita rates in the country. Additionally, the economic conditions of the region were spiraling downwards. LLUMC-Murrieta kept its commitment to invest over $230 million in Murrieta to open a world-class hospital and medical office building. Since that time, LLUMC-Murrieta has made enormous strides in the medical services provided in the region by opening the first STEMI center and increasing cardiovascular services. According to the City of Murrieta, the importance of LLUMC-Murrieta to the community cannot be overstated, both in terms of access to medical care and economic development. This facility has become a cornerstone for a medically-oriented business corridor that will benefit the residents of Riverside County for generations.
Richard H. Hart, MD, DrPH, president of Loma Linda University Health, notes that he is pleased that LLUMC-Murrieta remains busy and that it has achieved operational solvency so quickly. “As we look to the future,” Dr. Hart observes, “we plan to fully integrate LLUMC-Murrieta into all aspects of Loma Linda University Health. This will include basing physician residents there and providing rotations for our professional students from Loma Linda University. We also expect to include LLUMC-Murrieta in appropriate clinical trials. These research protocols will give residents of the area access to cutting-edge research initiatives for treating selected diseases.”
